Painter
Though abstract, there is often a reference to landscape and the natural world in my work, characterised by a free and gestural application of paint. Colour and its emotional effect is paramount.
I don’t usually do any preparatory drawing for paintings. My canvas is where the preparation takes place. Recently I discovered the term ‘pentimento’: an alteration in a painting evidenced by traces of previous work, showing that the artist has changed her mind as to the composition during the process of painting. My aim is to create a personal space, one that others might enter and respond to in their own way.
