Helen Jones

Painter

I make work to celebrate the natural world and the transience of life, and because I enjoy painting. Whilst out walking in the countryside, I take photographs and write about what I have seen, heard, and felt. This research is then translated into paint applied in layers, sometimes using collage, until I feel I have something satisfying. The aim is to convey my feelings, or the atmosphere I experienced in the place I was walking. My paintings are often quite vibrant and dynamic, but can also be subdued and still, their titles may comment about environmental concerns.
