Artist and Creative Learning
Jeffrey studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London.
His work is about ordinary, everyday domestic objects; he’s interested in the relationship between three-dimensional objects, their depiction through drawing and their final two-dimensional representation.
Inspired by rubbings of coins and keys as a child; his work raises questions about illusion, reproduction and realism. Familiar objects are wrapped with linen and rubbed with oil pastels or graphite to reveal the texture and shapes beneath the surface. These include toasters, violins, vacuum cleaners and trumpets. The unwrapped two-dimensional image is viewed from multiple angles to create an honest interpretation of the original form.
These artworks are exhibited as sculptures, drawings, photographs and short films.
