Claire Murray is an artist with a deep-rooted interest in the landscape, and her paintings attempt to understand the world around her, it’s systems and the natural order. During her MA in Fine Art, Claire explored more conceptual and mixed media forms, such as installation, photography and film, before returning to painting after graduation. Her paintings take much from the physical natural environment, feeding imaginative ‘landscapes’ not to represent a particular place, but rather suggest or inhabit somewhere else entirely. By nature, her paintings are ambiguous, multilayered in construction, and titled with a nod towards global concerns.
